Hi, welcome.

VideoPost is a feature implemented by FlatVideo, a product that we haven't launched yet.

It basically allows your members to add VideoPosts (record themselves with a WebCam). It is based on Flash and PHP.

It is still not available for sale.

No firm ETA. The software is fully developed. We have to work on the documentation.

We are finalizing the NuWiki launch, after which we'll have time.

Notice that FlatVideo requires either a Flash Media Server or a Red5 Server or FMS hosting to receive the video stream.

Thanks.

info on server types?

Hello ElfMage.. where can we obtain information on what is necessary to prep our servers for flatvideo? do you have an UN-firm ETA? Like between months and years? Sorry to be a pain.. hope to hear from you.. take care

oh.. another unrelated question.. does nuWiki support flash embedding? In the profile section of my website I allow people to upload videos and it converts it to flash.. much like Youtube or whatever.. can these files be embedded in either NuWiki or VB Wiki Pro?

Hi Parmenti,

We are unsure as to the timeline for FlatVideo. This is one of those projects that we have almost ready for launch, but we have so many things on our list, that never get to it.

FlatVideo uses a Flash Media Server for recording, but the playback goes through regular HTTP to a Flash App.

For the Flash Media Server you can run the servers yourself, or pay a Flash Hosting company. If you want to host the Flash Media Server yourself, then you need to run either Adobe's Flash Media Server, or Red5. Of these two Red5 is the most inexpensive (free. ).

Thanks.

I'm very interested in this also. I think it's the next natural evolution for forums. I'd love to be on the cutting edge. I have a server that would handle it. Let me know when it's available!

We haven't launched this product because we are still trying to assess the level of support involved.

Out of curiosity, if you were to install this product would you go with Adobe's server or with Red5?

Definitely Red5. I'm running a Linux dedicated server with a ton of disc space -- but even if I had to start up a second server for VideoPost, I would do it.

Bert,

I would go with Red5, Adobe's pricing scale is overinflated.
